Hi friend, all the 3 photos above are demseyflies. They are much smaller size than dragonflies. Both the species are very colourful insects. One can find more of these insects during the mating seasons in april/Jun period.

in chinese they are known as 豆娘
in english, i usually spelled it as "damselfly" but apparantly "Demselfly" is also used.

Hi junping, pls see my recent comments on a member's demseyfly at www.kgdp.multiply.com. The Club has just form a macro group on insects photography. You may also wish to join them to learn more on macro shooting as there are many good experienced enthusiasts there to guide one who is keen on this subject. Cheers!

:D i also have to fav this.. .. nice ..

need to ask you abit.. interested in this one..

why do you chose these setting.? 1/2000 sec, f2.8 and iso 400?

again..why you stop at 90mm?

nothing wrong with the photos just want to see more of its face. oh.. later i noticed that you used aperture priority.

anyway. love the DOF .. face to face with the Damselflies .

thank you.

use aperture priority for convenience sake. use ISO 400 to reduce shakiness as I am handholding the camera.

dun intend to get extension tubes yet......
yah me also like to take a closer look at it's eyes, like jelly, cute :)
